After months of hype, the Apple iPhone finally hits the UK and Germany today, 9 November 2007! We spotted the first iPhone ads on UK TV a few days ago, which are pretty much like the ones in the US (with an English accent of course). Finally, Europeans can put their hands on an iPhone themselves. As they say: better late than never!
We hear that queues started forming outside the Apple store in Regent Street, London, as early as 6pm yesterday despite the cold and the rain. One thing's for sure, the weather in London yesterday was pretty nasty so these are very determined people indeed! The official UK launch is expected at 6.02pm this afternoon, which means that some of these guys are going to sit there for a full 24 hours just to be the first to put their hands on one of these! Now we're the first to admit the Apple iPhone is pretty special, but even we wouldn't consider that kind of thing. So it looks like we're going to see the same kind of hype as in the US here in Europe, it will be interesting to see how things develop over the next few days. As most of you know by now, the iPhone is available in the UK via O2 and in Germany via T-Mobile - alternatively, you could also simply unlock it by using software available on the Net.
